When you order a card from us, you share more than a name and email. You tell us about your life — your work, your interests, the small details that make you who you are. That takes a degree of trust, and we don't take it lightly.
Everything you share exists for one reason: to make your card. It isn't passed on, sold, or used for anything else. We're a small studio, not a data business. What you tell us stays between us, held as carefully as we'd want our own information held.
The sections below set out the specifics, but that's the short version.
When you use our contact form or place an order, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and the details of your enquiry or order.
When you request a proof for Work metal business cards, we collect your name, email address, business name (if you give one), the card options you choose, any notes you add, and any artwork you upload, such as a photo of your current business card or your logo. Your artwork may show contact details, which is fine: we only use them to reproduce your card. Large photos are reduced in size by your browser before they are sent to us.
With each request we also record a reference number, the date and time, and the website you came from (the site name only, not your browsing history).
When you make a payment, your card and payment details are handled directly by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number — Stripe processes and holds that information under their own privacy policy.
Advertising measurement. Our home page and Work pages use the Google tag (Google Ads conversion tracking). It uses cookies so Google can tell us whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to send a proof request. We use this only to measure how well our ads work. We don't send your name, email, artwork or other details to Google. Google handles this data under its own policy. You can manage ad settings at adssettings.google.com or block cookies in your browser.
Your information is used only to fulfil your order or respond to your enquiry. We do not send marketing emails, newsletters, or promotional material.
Artwork you send us is used only to prepare your proof and make your cards. We will never show your card, artwork or details as an example of our work without asking you first.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own use.
Netlify hosts this website and receives form submissions on our behalf, including any artwork files you upload. Netlify stores form data and files on their servers, which may be located outside Australia, in accordance with their privacy policy. Uploaded files are kept in our private Netlify account and are not published on this website.
Email. A copy of each form submission is emailed to our business mailbox so we can reply to you.
Stripe processes card payments. When you pay by card, you are transacting directly with Stripe's secure platform. Their privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
Bank transfer. For Work orders we send an invoice after you approve your proof, and you can pay by bank transfer. We see only what appears on our own bank statement, such as your name and payment reference.
Neither service uses your data for anything beyond what's needed to provide their platform.
We retain order and enquiry records for as long as needed to fulfil your order and meet our legal obligations (typically seven years for financial records under Australian tax law). Contact enquiries that don't result in an order are kept for a reasonable period in case you follow up, then deleted.
Uploaded artwork files are deleted from our form service within 90 days after your cards are delivered, or within 90 days of your request if you decide not to go ahead. You can ask us to delete them sooner at any time.
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate. You can also ask us to delete information we hold, where we're not legally required to keep it.
To make any of these requests, email us at hello@purpleoctopus.cards. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
