When you order a card from us, you share more than a name and email. You tell us about your life — your work, your interests, the small details that make you who you are. That takes a degree of trust, and we don't take it lightly.
Everything you share exists for one reason: to make your card. It isn't passed on, sold, or used for anything else. We're a small studio, not a data business. What you tell us stays between us, held as carefully as we'd want our own information held.
The sections below set out the specifics, but that's the short version.
When you use our contact form or place an order, we collect the information you provide — typically your name, email address, and the details of your enquiry or order.
When you make a payment, your card and payment details are handled directly by Stripe. We do not see or store your full card number — Stripe processes and holds that information under their own privacy policy.
If we add website analytics in the future (such as Google Analytics), we will update this policy to reflect that. Any analytics we use will collect only anonymised, aggregated data about how the site is used — not personal details.
Your information is used only to fulfil your order or respond to your enquiry. We do not send marketing emails, newsletters, or promotional material.
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for their own use.
Netlify hosts this website and receives form submissions on our behalf. Netlify stores form data on their servers in accordance with their privacy policy.
Stripe processes all payments. When you pay, you are transacting directly with Stripe's secure platform. Their privacy policy governs how your payment data is handled.
Neither service uses your data for anything beyond what's needed to provide their platform.
We retain order and enquiry records for as long as needed to fulfil your order and meet our legal obligations (typically seven years for financial records under Australian tax law). Contact enquiries that don't result in an order are kept for a reasonable period in case you follow up, then deleted.
You have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, and to ask us to correct anything that's inaccurate. You can also ask us to delete information we hold, where we're not legally required to keep it.
To make any of these requests, email us at hello@purpleoctopus.cards. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
